An emergency overnight shelter for individuals and families with preference given to residents of Stanly, Anson and Montgomery counties. Hours of operation are 6pm to 7am. The Community Inn sleeps 20 guests with space for overflow. Separate men and women’s dorms both sleep 8 and our new family room sleeps 4. Meals are served around 6:30pm by community volunteers and a light breakfast is offered before closing at 7am. Hot showers are provided nightly to all guests as well as case management to assist in connecting them with community resources and finding permanent housing. A six-month program geared towards single parents with minor children. An application process beginning with the initial application and necessary documents, followed with an interview by a board of peers, background and drug testing. Once approved, participants are required to attend monthly workshops that provide valuable skills to assist in obtaining and maintaining permanent housing as well as commit to 20 hours. Participants must pay a deposit and monthly rental fees that are staggered monthly. Participants also receive case management to assist in goal setting and resource connections to reach the ultimate goal of permanent housing.
